SPACE SCIENTISTS

Our Lead Scientists graduated from the Higher Institute of Chemical Technology, specialising in chemical engineering. After graduating, they worked at the Scientific Research Institute of Cryobiology and Lyophilization (the ‘Institute’) before leaving in 1997 to create a private business.

THE SCIENCE

Our Scientists have spent much of their careers discovering and testing ingredients that protect cells against extreme environmental conditions (especially space and deep sea), and developing supplements for the submarine fleet and for astronauts.

In space, there is no protective ozone layer, which means the human body is exposed to the highest levels of radiation. This extreme exposure leads to a flood of oxidative stress (free radicals), which has a destructive effect on human cells. Similarly, the extreme pressure of deep sea together with long periods of being submerged, strains cells and weakens their natural defence.

Combining more than 25 years of research and tests into the damaging effect of extreme environmental forces on the human body, the scientists made several ground-breaking discoveries.

In their healthiest and strongest state, our cells are well equipped to fight damaging free radicals (considered to be the main culprit of premature ageing). However, as we age, this natural protection is diminished. The scientists discovered a process to slow down this type of skin damage.

By increasing the production of glutathione, free radicals can be blocked from damaging skin cells and collagen. The ‘how’ is what makes the difference. Surprisingly, taking glutathione itself does not raise the levels of glutathione in the blood as effectively as taking its precursor NAC (n-acetylcysteine). NAC stimulates increased production of glutathione, blocking free radicals in skin cells and collagen.

The other ground-breaking discovery is what happens when you mix NAC with an effective transportation system, Escin. 111 SKIN creams are effective because of this proprietary transportation and delivery system, which ensures maximum penetration and absorption of key ingredients in the cells of the skin.
